While Trinidad gets the most attention for its Carnival and vibrant scenes, the “little sister” island of Tobago is the quieter Caribbean destination for a romantic trip. Ringed with beaches to get away from it all, and with a lush natural interior of forest and waterfalls, Tobago can feel like it belongs just to the two of you. The leeward coast especially offers romantic getaways from the more traveled Pigeon Point and Buccoo Reef if you want to explore quaint villages and beautiful pathways that let you bond with experiences all your own. Destination Weddings and Honeymoons magazine suggests exploring the fishing village of Castara, for example, in “a mango-tree Eden populated by emerald hummingbirds, lime-colored lizards and pink Angel trumpet flowers.”

Whether you’re already married or just thinking about it, it’s worth taking in the Moriah Ole Time Tobago Wedding. The processional features a village of couples in their wedding day best in an authentic show of Tobago romance. Follow this recreation of a traditional island wedding from Kitty Bamboo Gully to Lincoln Gap. It’s part of the Tobago Heritage Festival, kicking off with a Friday Bachelor Night, then Saturday wedding. Come one, come all, for Tambrin music and dancing to celebrate the love you find Tobago.
