Some people believe that if you truly appreciate a great cocktail, then you shouldn’t need a made-up holiday to “celebrate” it. Our counterpoint: holidays are awesome and so are our favorite cocktails, so forgive us for being overly festive. And when you look at the summer’s run of big days for beverages, why wouldn’t you want to learn a few new recipes and make the best of them?
National Mai Tai Day (6/30), National Daiquiri Day (7/19), and National Tequila Day (7/24) are arguably the most popular holidays for us beach bums, but let’s not forget about National Bourbon Day on June 14. If our friends, the brilliant mixologists at Montage Palmetto Bluff, taught us anything last year, it’s that our favorite bourbons can shine in summer cocktails as well. If you don’t believe us, just make a batch of the Peaches and Bourbon and your mind will instantly change.
To celebrate National Bourbon Day this year, we are all in on the Cole’s Fashioned cocktail from the Cole’s barbecue restaurant at Montage Palmetto Bluff. It’s an effortless ginger twist on a legendary drink, and if this doesn’t make you want to immediately plan a getaway to this 5-star South Carolina resort, well, have another.
