Very few vacation spots offer such an incredible bounty of resorts—from world-class luxury enclaves to lively all-inclusive properties—as Los Cabos, one of Mexico’s premier destinations known for its ample sunshine and dramatic desert-meets-sea beauty. Since the late 1990s, this tourist mecca at the tip of the Baja Peninsula, where the Pacific Ocean meets the Sea of Cortez, has lured travelers with its stunning architecture, impeccably manicured golf courses, excellent deep-sea fishing and whale watching, and immersive spa experiences.
Its reputation as a favorite escape of Hollywood celebrities is legend and continued development has added several impressive new properties to the mix in recent years, both in vibrant Cabo San Lucas and quieter San José del Cabo, as well as along the 20-mile corridor that separates them. Here’s a look at 10 of the best resorts in Los Cabos.
Esperanza
Esperanza, an Auberge Resorts Collection property set on a gorgeous private beach where waves crash against dramatic rocks and surround guests with the rhythms of the sea, has been welcoming couples and families since 2002. While not ideal for swimming, the beach and ocean here can be enjoyed from sunrise to sunset from the two-tiered oceanfront infinity pool, palapa-style dining venues and the terraces of some of the resort’s casitas, suites and villas.
All 102 accommodations are decorated in a casually luxurious hacienda style, including generously sized Casitas (925 sq. ft.) and Suites (1,200 to 2,000 sq. ft.) offering indoor-outdoor living, with some featuring a hot tub on the terrace, and two-and-three-bedroom Oceanfront Villas (2,000 to 3,000 sq. ft.) that feature a private pool and are ideal for families or groups of friends.
Since its debut, Esperanza has embraced an eco-centric philosophy, with four restaurants dedicated to sourcing local, organic and sustainable ingredients and a spa centered around the healing properties of indigenous plants.
Esperanza is located just outside Cabo San Lucas near Punta Ballena.
Grand Velas Los Cabos
Each of the 307 suites at Grand Velas Los Cabos, an upscale, family-friendly all-inclusive open since 2016, offers at least 1,100 sq. ft. of space and a sweeping ocean view thanks to the property’s striking tiered architecture. Suites are awash in beachy neutrals and pale blues, with contemporary décor, large terraces, and spa-inspired bathrooms. Gran Velas resorts are known for their excellent dining venues and this property offers guests seven all-inclusive options.
Among them are Azul, for al fresco breakfast, lunch and dinner; Cabrilla for fresh seafood and ceviche; Piaf for French cuisine; Frida for contemporary Mexican dishes; and Cocina de Autor for multi-course gastronomy. There’s also a 35,000 sq. ft. SE Spa featuring a seven-step water ceremony that’s included in every treatment as well as multi-tiered oceanfront infinity pools (the sea here has a strong undertow and isn’t swimmable) as well as separate kids and teens clubs with their own pool and splash area.
Grand Velas Los Cabos is located along the corridor, about halfway between San José del Cabo and Cabos San Lucas.

The new Enclave Beach Club, set on serene Tequila Cove, transforms from daytime activity zone to an evening cocktail venue with music and fire pits. Four pools—Serenity for adults ages 21 and older, Jewel with its fun swim-up bar, Dolphin for families (complete with a waterslide), and Sunrise for a quieter vibe—suit a variety of vacation styles. The resort’s six dining venues include Vela, serving Mediterranean; Talavera, offering Mexican specialties from seven regions; Mio, for sushi and raw bar; and Enclave for tapas—plus the Sotol tequileria offers tastes of 200-plus varieties of tequila.

In the original 154 rooms and suites, décor reflects the resort’s Zen-inspired architecture and cacti-studded landscape with minimalist lines, teak wood furnishings and neutral hues, while the 47 rooms and suites in The Towers have a more contemporary organic feel.
The Towers also features Towers Pool Suites with private plunge pools and a 3,233 sq. ft. Presidential Suite. Pacifica offers a wide array of dining choices, both at its onsite restaurants (which include Peninsula for traditional Baja favorites and Pescados for sushi) and at the three other Pueblo Bonito Pacifica resorts in Los Cabos, where guests can reserve tables and hop a shuttle to dine around, including at the atmospheric LaFrida at the Sunset Beach property.
