If you’re trying to plan the ultimate family vacation or romantic getaway, Fiji Airways has the deal for you. Through March 12, the airline is offering airfare from Los Angeles or San Francisco to Nadi for as low as $199 each way. Compare that with the usual prices of $1K and up and it’s a no-brainer, although the selected flights are only available between April 30 and June 11, 2019, or September 1 and November 14, 2019.
Not like that should matter when you consider all that Fiji offers year-round.
The postcard-worthy beaches feature something for everyone, especially if you’re making the trip for snorkeling and diving. Get lost on Castaway Island and marvel at the technicolor coral gardens just offshore. Head to Vomo Island and hike to the top of the Mt. Vomo for a complete view of paradise, and then make your way to Beqa Island to witness the art of fire-walking.
But don’t rush right to the beach; there’s plenty to do and see in Nadi. The open-air souvenir market showcases a wide variety of crafts and goods that pay tribute to the region’s history. Foodies should visit the Curry House for an Indo-Fijian feast. From Nadi, the late Raymond Burr’s Garden of the Sleeping Giant is a quick car ride away, and it is a must-see botanic sanctuary.
As for accommodations, there’s no shortage of resorts on Fiji’s islands. The five-star Jean-Michel Cousteau Resort offers authentic cuisine, Fijian healing spa treatments, yoga and rainforest and waterfall hikes. If you’d rather stay at an all-inclusive resort, Namale Resort & Spa is an adults-only resort set on 525 acres.
On Malolo, the Likuliku Lagoon Resort features overwater bungalows with glass floors and ample living space. Or, if you book your trip for November, check out the Qamea Resort and Spa for the sunset Lairo crab hunts, followed by a Lairo crab lunch the following day.
