The Belize Tourism Board is spreading a shocking statistic: 90 percent of millennials have mixed business and leisure, or “Bleisure.” To combat the rising trend of people working when they’re supposed to be enjoying their vacations, Belize has established the nation’s first-ever overwater bungalow coworking space on the tiny island of Tobacco Caye, allowing people who can’t miss a precious email an opportunity to mix work and play in a private, tropical setting.
To promote this “Belizesure” campaign, the BTB is giving away three all-expenses-paid five-day trips for two so people can experience firsthand everything the coworking bungalows and Tobacco Caye have to offer.
“Not only is Belize a curious place — it also is a productive place,” says Karen Bevans, director of tourism, the BTB. “The Belizean tourism industry is fully committed to accommodating the needs of our guests, whether they’re seeking a rainforest adventure, world-class scuba diving along the Belize Barrier Reef or a relaxing overwater bungalow to finish laying out the last slides of a presentation … if you must.”
Belize is home to world-class beach resorts, but Tobacco Caye, located about 10 miles from Belize’s coast, is known for bungalows. This coworking space is putting a “Belizean twist” on both the bungalows and coworking amenities, offering standing desks, a wellness center and a VIP boardroom, as well as an open-concept layout so Belizesure enthusiasts can bounce ideas off each other.
The BTB’s contest is open to U.S. residents 18 years or older, and the deadline for entries is April 9. All that is required for a shot at winning this contest is an email to [email protected] stating your case for what makes you the ideal candidate to experience Belizesure.
