Renowned fashion designers Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana are selling their villa on the island of Stromboli, located off the northern coast of Sicily. While the reason for the sale is unknown, speculation (or timing) suggests that the listing is the result of July’s volcanic eruption. Regardless of the reason, it is the end of an era for this unique, colorful residence that has welcomed a parade of A-listers for more than three decades.
The Italian fashion icons’ villa is approximately 5,382 square feet, 2,530 of it being the interior, spread across three buildings. The inside is comprised of nine bathrooms and seven suites, each with their own theme and color scheme. There are also terraces with panoramic views, a direct access point to the sea and a heliport about one kilometer away.
Interior furnishing looks as expected of a property owned by Dolce and Gabbana. According to the official listing with Lionard Luxury Real Estate, the residence boasts “distinctive elements of the prestigious fashion house blended with the refined products of local craftsmanship,” but words truly do this villa no justice.
As the in-depth gallery reveals, this modern castle offers stunning views of sunsets over the water, with multiple outdoor seating areas challenging guests to never go inside again. But on the inside, an almost indescribable explosion of color and personality awaits. Each suite is decorated with its own color scheme, and the overall design is as bold as you’d expect from two of the most celebrated fashion geniuses of all-time.
The price is currently listed as “private negotiation,” but it is believed to be approximately $7.2 million.
Dolce was born in Sicily to a tailor and a fabrics-and-apparel saleswoman in 1958. He later met Gabbana in 1980 before they started Dolce & Gabbana in 1985. The two were an open couple from 1982 to 2003 and are still working together.
Sicily is just south of Stromboli and the Aeolian islands, a group of eight islands containing one of three active volcanos in Italy. Stromboli has a population of about 500.
