The first resort to open on Bora Bora in 10 years is now ready for its close-up. Conrad Bora Bora Nui is upping the overwater-bungalow ante, debuting the first two-story bungalows in the world.
“Our remote location in a private cove offers a truly special setting for Conrad Hotels & Resorts’ debut in the South Pacific,” says Jean Duc, general manager of the property. “At Conrad Bora Bora Nui, we provide new ways for guests to discover this one-of-a-kind destination and the dynamic Tahitian culture.”
Here’s a look inside the new luxury resort located on Motu To’opua, a small island off the coast of Bora Bora.
The resort features 114 guest rooms, including 86 overwater bungalows and 28 garden and beach villas. Opt for a Royal Pool Overwater Villa for your own private plunge pool and glass-floor viewing panels to spy on the fish below.
Each overwater villa includes a king-size bed and a balcony overlooking the ocean. Feel free to jump right from that balcony into the water — this is an overwater bungalow, after all.
The villa’s bathrooms offer sleek double vanities and an oversize soaking tub perfect for couples. And the view isn’t too shabby either.
Decisions, decisions: do you take a dip in your plunge pool? Jump directly into the ocean? Lounge on the catamaran net? Either way, you’ll have an amazing view of Mount Otemanu.
When you need sustenance, head to one of the six restaurants and bars, like the Tamure Beach Grill, which features Mediterranean-meets-Polynesian fare and a stone pizza oven. At night, the spot shows outdoor movies and hosts a weekly traditional Polynesian show with dancers and fire throwers.
In case your plunge pool is too small, head to the main infinity pool for a swim. Relax on the loungers in the water or grab a cocktail at the swim-up bar.
Who needs one floor when you can have two? Introducing the king of all overwater bungalows: the Presidential Overwater Villa. This multi-level room features two bedrooms, three bathrooms and a living room. Hang out in the pool or lounge on the balcony’s day beds.
The best place to view the sunset is the Upa Upa Lounge – the deck offers the only panoramic sunset views in Bora Bora. Stop in for mid afternoon tea and tapas, or swing by after dinner for a digestif. The lounge also boasts a glass-floor deck to watch the lagoon’s coral reefs teeming with colorful fish.
Conrad Bora Bora Nui features Hina Spa, which offers Elemis facial treatments, locally sourced spa products and an outdoor treatment deck overlooking the lagoon. Guests can also access the resort’s private islet, Motu Tapu.
