St. Barth’s Hotel Christopher Reopens Its Doors to the World

A name synonymous with the island itself, this property is better than ever with a new look and more villas.

To say it’s been a complicated three years for St. Barth’s Hotel Christopher would be an understatement. In 2017, the popular hotel experienced significant damage from Hurricane Irma, causing a yearlong closure for extensive renovations. Then, like so many other hotels and resorts, Christopher closed its doors earlier this year because of the pandemic, and a year that should have been a celebration of a new and improved experience simply became another waiting game.

Fortunately, the wait is over. Christopher once again welcomed international travelers on November 25, and the occasion marks the completion of the property’s tiered renovations from Irma. Most of the work, including two new villas, the Christo restaurant and a design concept intended to “blur the boundaries between inside and out,” was already showcased when the hotel reopened in October 2018, but the addition of the third and final villa means guests will be able to enjoy every aspect of this 42-room masterpiece from here on.

The three four-bedroom Villas Christopher, known as Niña, Pinta and Maria, are tucked away in the stunning, lush natural beauty of Pointe Milou, and they have each been designed and decorated with modern comfort to contrast the amazing Caribbean beauty that awaits outside. Of course, the easiest way to enjoy that beauty is staring at it from each villa’s large deck and private pool, but everyone eventually needs to get out and explore.

Making a visit all the more enticing is the list of special offers, including the self-explanatory “Stay 7 Pay 6” deal and the “Insider” package that features a VIP dinner and couple massage. Time your trip right and you might even bump into Chef Alain Passard of L’Arpège in Paris, as he likes to pop in at the end of the year to cook exciting items with local products.

But getting to St. Barth is the most important part, and that cannot be done without a negative PCR taken within 72 hours of arrival or an antigen test taken with 48 hours of arrival. And just as airlines and airports require all travelers to wear masks at all times, Hotel Christopher’s Covid-19 policy also requires face coverings, as well as physical distancing in all public areas.
